  1. Crikey mate, conditions looked absolutely horrific and kudos to you for knowing when enough was enough. No point in putting yourself in harm's way in those circumstances. We rode in similar conditions in the '96 event and the only thing which stopped us from withdrawing is that it stopped raining between about midnight and 4am. Congrats for even attempting it in those conditions. BTW, what's the music? Terrific atmosphere for the video.

  2. Thanks Geoff. I think it was 2007 that was the worst weather wise for me - 22 hours riding and most of it in the wet. Happy with my decision.

The music was just picked off a selection that Youtube offered up.

  3. Well then, all I'm hearing here is whinging. My GPS doesn't work, its wet, my headlight globe broke.....
Come on bud tell us the real reason you pulled out. It was because those Wings left you for dead and you can't bear the shame of a bunch of wings blasting you into the weeds hahahaha

PS. All the above, I'm pulling ya leg.
Good effort my man, glad to see you pulled out before any thing bad happened.

  4. Good on you for knowing when it is time to call it. Listen to your gut, it helps keep you alive.

As I read this the rain is lashing against the office windows and I am glad I am not on my bike. Made reading the blog more real though - special effects.

    1. Thanks. Nice to know we're not the only ones getting rain - it has been absolutely shocking weather here for months, very wet.

Special effects eh? All you needed was to tip a bucket of water over your head and you would have been right there with me ;)
